The EMC of the BFF went on a four days trip fishers exchange in Mexico . While in Mexico the group visited the processing plant for the Cozumel Cooperative Society of Fisheries Production in Cozumel and the fishing grounds of Maria Elena. The trip was a success as the members learned a lot from the Mexican Fishers. The BFF would like to congratulate the members who participated in the exchange and trust that the information learnt will be pass on to the individual association and the wider membership as the Federation continue to keep in line with its primary mandate of education, capacity building and advocacy.
The Federation would also like to thank the University of Belize particularly Cecy Castillo, Science department chair and lecturer from the Faculty of Science and Technology for her commitment, participation and professional input in advising the EMC members during the exchange as well as her technical support which provide important insight and data useful in communicating with our Mexican partners. The University of Belize and the Belize Federation working together as one.
Thanks to Oak Foundation for making this possible through our project “Capacity Building for Sustainable Resources Use, Fishery Alternatives and Technical Support for Members of the Belize Federation of Fishers”
